How can I grow up in summer camp? – Written by Minh Khuê – 8th Grade – Camp “Rực rỡ phía chân trời”, July 2023

This is the first trip I’ve ever had without my parents coming along so I was nervous but everything went fine because of our 3 amazing guides: Mrs. Ha, Mrs. Thao, Mrs. Angie.

First of all we explored Changi airport after meeting up with Mrs. Angie, she led us around and we went to Jewels.
From this, I now know what you have to do at the airport and what you need to have to go to another country. Learned that when travelling to different countries, you’ll need to bring paper of attorney for both English and Vietnamese if you’re under 14, you’ll also need to bring your passport along with a namecard for your luggage incase you lose it.

What’s more, before you go into another country or if you’re in them, you need to research into their culture properly and thoroughly in order to respect and follow it. For example:
In Singapore, you’ll need to go left or right when using excavators, left for standing and right for walking.
You aren’t allowed to litter or bring drinks and food to subways.
You need to clean up yourself after eating,…

In Indonesia you need to respect their religions and not do anything to disrespect it.

Then we went to the MRT to catch a train. There, we got on a subway, read the routes map and the names of the stations for the first time. Then, we arrived to our hostel using the subway.

I learned how to adapt to a public space and how to live in it. Not only that but the guides also helped us understood how to read the directions. They also assigned leaders to help us adopt the ability to lead by assigning a new one everyday. It helped us learn how to take responsibility of an entire group of people.

I learned how to ask for directions and how to talk to foreigners, how to read signs,…

Due to that, I know how to establish plans for the group, understand the way to work with other people now.

Moreover, I even learned how to keep my stuff safe in public places, how to place things in a convenient way and learned all the important stuff you need while exploring outside.

Additionally, I learned how to make a lot of friends in just a while. This trip taught me how to deal with unexpected situations and how to adapt to my surroundings. It helped me get used to more personalities and perspectives.

Secondly, I learned how different economies work and how diverse countries actually are. I met a lot of new people and experienced many unfamiliar things that I would never imagine doing in the past.

For reference, I never thought I’d be going to summer camp but this year, I did and it was the best trip of my life. Along with that, I also have more experience in public speaking, presentating. I learned so many things about cultures, history by going to museums and landmarks.

Lastly, my advice or lesson here that I got from this trip is to always sought out opportunities for new experiences and never be afraid or scared of it. Thank Re.Sky for these lessons ❤️
